Description
Well, what was she thinking? Had she stood on the wheeled cart to reach the top or perhaps she meant to do this and stopped to check her cell phone while inside? Have you ever visited a laundromat? According to Wikipedia: Laundry has been part of history since humans began to wear clothes, so the methods by which different cultures have dealt with this universal human need are of interest to several branches of scholarship. Laundry work has traditionally been highly gendered, with the responsibility in most cultures falling to women (known as laundresses or washerwomen). The Industrial Revolution gradually led to mechanized solutions to laundry work, notably the washing machine and later the tumble dryer. Laundry, like cooking and child care, is done both at home and by commercial establishments outside the home.
There sure is a lot of info on the history of laundry, so you may find it interesting during your research. This tongue-in-cheek art piece would be a fun addition to your utility room as a poster or framed print. Even a mug with this design would be a great conversation piece.
